Devonshire rum recipe details
Ingredients
250 g | Fruit Cake, cut into bars |
butter, for greasing | |
1 medium | egg |
4 tsp | cornflour |
250 ml | milk |
2 tsp | brown sugar |
50 ml | rum essence |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C.Arrange fruit cake in a greased pie dish.
Beat the egg and set aside.
In a bowl combine cornflour with some milk and beat to a paste.
Heat the remaining milk and then pour it slowly over the cornflour paste, stirring to prevent lumps forming.
Return it to the heat and cook for 2 minutes. Add the sugar, egg, and rum essence.
Pour the mixture over the cake and bake for about 30 minutes. Serve with butter.
