To die for french toast recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1-1/2 cup milk
- 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tart apples, peeled & sliced
- 1 loaf French bread
- Spicy Apple Syrup:
- 1 cup apple sauce
- One 10-ounce jar apple jelly
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- dash salt
Cook sugar, butter and syrup until syrupy; pour into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Spread apple slices over this. Slice bread into 3/4 inch slices and place on top of apple slices. Whisk together remaining ingredients and pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Serve with spicy apple syrup.
Spicy Apple Syrup: Combine all ingredients in small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring consistently, until jelly melts and syrup is hot.
