Taffy candy recipe details
A taffy very like salt-water taffy, but more along the lines of Wonka Laffy Taffy(TM).
Ready in: 50 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 50- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter (real preferred)
- 1 tablespoon salt, optional
- 1/4 teaspoon desired flavoring
- Food coloring, optional
Preparation method
Prep: 25 mins | Cook: 25 mins1. In heavy saucepan, mix sugar and cornstarch. Stir in corn syrup, water, salt and butter.
2. Place over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves.
3. Cover pan and bring to boil; boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Uncover, and using a candy thermometer, make sure the candy is exactly 266 degrees F. When the candy is the right temperature, remove from heat and add flavoring and color.
5. Stir gently and pour onto greased marble slab or a shallow pan to cool.
6. When cool enough to handle, grease hands with butter and pull taffy until light in color.
7. Pull into a long rope, cut with scissors and wrap in plastic or wax paper, twisting ends.
