- Ingredients
- 6 cups quick oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup wheat germ
- 1/2 cup oat bran
- 1/2 cup flaked coconut
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds
- 3/4 cup nuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup pine nuts
- 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup golden raisins or currants
- 1 cup dried fruit, chopped (optional)
Combine oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, oat bran, coconut, seeds, nuts, and dry milk. Turn into 2 shallow baking pans. In a covered jar, shake honey, oil, water, and vanilla until mixed. Pour half of liquid mixture over each panful of granola. Stir until all dry particles are moistened.
Bake in a preheated oven at 300 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes or just until lightly toasted, stirring at least twice during baking. Add raisins and dried fruit and bake 5 minutes more. Stir occasionally while cooling. Store in tightly sealed containers. It freezes well.
Makes: about 3 quarts.
