The delicious glaze on this very flavorful meatloaf is what makes this dish from my sister, Sally, go from great to amazing!

Ingredients
Serves: 16-
GLAZE MIXTURE:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard MEAT MIXTURE:
- 2 pound ’97/3′ extra lean ground beef
- 2 pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 1/3 cup Italian style bread crumbs
- 2 pkg. (1 box) beef & onion soup mix
- 4 medium garlic cloves, minced
- 2 large eggs, beaten well
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup of the above glaze mixture
- grated Parmesan cheese, to taste
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 1 hour 10 mins | Extra time: 3 days 16 hours 30 mins1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In small mixing bowl, whisk all glaze mixture ingredients together; set aside.
3. In large mixing bowl, hand mix ground meats together well. Add bread crumbs, soup mix, garlic, eggs, lemon juice and 1/2 cup of glaze mixture to the meat, mixing well. Shape meat mixture into 1 large loaf or two medium loaves. Place in a baking pan.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
5. Remove from oven, drain any excess fat from pan, pour glaze mixture over top the meatloaf, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese to taste.
6. Place back in oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.Cook’s note:
Lean ground turkey and lean ground turkey sausage can be substituted for the lean ground beef and Italian sausage.
