This is a very simple, easy, way to prepare venison. The combination of venison and potatoes creates a hearty, stick to your ribs, comfort food. Sometimes I substitute a couple carrots for a potato, or add a can of pinto beans with the potatoes, just to give it a different twist.

Ingredients
Serves: 6- 2 pounds venison stew meat
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
- 3 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 (.75 ounce) package brown gravy mix
- 1/2 cup cold water
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 1 hour 30 mins1. Brown meat and onion in vegetable oil; season meat with salt and pepper or your favorite seasoning. When meat is brown, drain the oil and all liquid; add the beef broth and reduce the heat. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender. Add the potatoes to the meat mixture, simmer another 30 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
2. Mix 1/2 cup of cold water with the gravy mix. Pour in the gravy into the stew and stir until thickened. Serve and enjoy!
