- Ingredients
- 2 cups white flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening (I use margarine)
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- Salt
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
This is the recipe used for scones for the Queen of Britain when she had tea at the Empress Hotel in 1939.
Mix shortening and sugar, then add flour, baking powder, salt, and eggs. Mix well, adding milk. Then stir in raisins.
Bake in 425-degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
