Ingredients

400 g rice
800 ml water
2 tbsp butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
½ tsp powdered saffron
salt and freshly ground pepper, to taste

Instructions

In a large, ovenproof saucepan sauté the chopped onions in the butter until they start to turn light brown.

Add boiling water and rice and cook on medium heat. Season with salt and pepper and add the powdered suffron.

Cover the pan with a lid and simmer until rice is soft. Stir occasionally.
