This Russian beef ragout recipe is a hearty and flavorful dish that will transport you to the heart of Russia. Ingredients

750 g beef tenderloin, cut into stripes
1 large can(s) tomato pulp
1  onion, chopped
1  leek, sliced
salt
cayenne pepper
1 large can(s) mushrooms, sliced
3 tbsp single cream
½ tsp mustard
½ tsp sugar
125 ml water
1 tbsp butter

Instructions

In a saucepan, heat the butter. Add the beef tenderloin and sauté over medium heat, turning frequently. Take out of the pan, cover and set aside.

Cook in the pan the onion and the leek over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add the tomato pulp and water. Season with salt, cayenne pepper, mustard and sugar and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat. Stir in the mushrooms and single cream and return the meat.

Simmer for some minutes and season to taste with salt and cayenne pepper.
