Royal vegetable soup recipe details
- Ingredients
- Short ribs (not too fat) 1-1/2 to 2 pounds
- 1 marrow bone (may be removed later)
- 2 Tablespoons whole barley
- 2 Tablespoons split peas
- 2 Tablespoons baby limas
- 1 whole onion
- 3 carrots
- 2 or 3 stalks of celery
- 10 green beans
- 1 turnip or parsnip
- 1 small sweet potato
- 1 small white potato
- 1/2 cabbage (small pieces)
- 1 can of tomatoes
- 2 heaping Tablespoons Alphabet Macaroni
- white pepper to taste
Add water and salt to ribs and marrow bone and boil. Scrape off scum. Add whole barley, split peas, baby limas, and onion. Boil 1 hour. Remove onion. Cut up and add vegetables. Boil until vegetables are tender. In the last 3 minutes, add macaroni and white pepper.
