Rice krispie treat cake recipe details
It’s deliciously easy and fun, especially for the kids. The added ingredients are chocolate bars, frosting and sprinkles. Wow! The layers look great when cutting out the squares for your guests.
Ready in: 50 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 16- 6 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 16 ounces marshmallows (about 50 regular marshmallows)
- 8 cups Rice Krispies(TM)
- 6 (1.5 ounce) chocolate bars
- 1 (16 ounce) can frosting, any flavor
- 1/2 cup sprinkles (our kids prefer the larger, multi-color sprinkles)
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 10 mins | Extra time: 20 mins, cooling1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or butter.
2. In large saucepan over low heat, melt butter then add marshmallows. Stir until melted. Remove from heat.
3. Add Rice Krispies(TM) cereal. Stir until well coated. Using spatula or wax paper, press 1/2 the mixture evenly into pan.
4. Put chocolate bars on the layer of Rice Krispie(TM) mixture (kids love to do this step).
5. Put pan in oven for 2 to 5 minutes (until chocolate starts to melt fully over mixture). Then put the other half of the rice mixture on top of the chocolate bars to cover.
6. Wait a bit until it cools. Put in the fridge to help the process. About 20 minutes.
7. Frost and sprinkle (be sure and let the kids frost and sprinkle, they will love it!).
8. Cut into 2-inch squares, or whatever size you want. Best if served the same day.Recipe Variations
Have some fun with this- just add what you like. We like white frosting, it makes the sprinkles show up better.
