Quick and easy sausage gravy and biscuits recipe details
This is a wonderfully fast and delicious way to make yourself this favorite dish. Although you can spice this to taste, all of the basic spices are already in the ingredients. I use fresh store-bough biscuits. The markets near me make these fresh every day and even have buttermilk biscuits available as well. This should make enough for 8 servings of one biscuit each with gravy. For me this serves four hungry folks!
Ready in: 25 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 8- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds Ground Italian Sausage (The best quality you can find)
- 4 to 5 cups whole milk
- 2 packages McCormick’s(R) Original Country Gravy Mix
- 1 or 2 tablespoons sausage grease
- 8 store bought, fresh-made baking powder biscuits
Preparation method
Prep: 5 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. Cook the sausage in a frying pan over medium heat, stirring as needed to thoroughly brown and cook throughout. Remove and let grease drain on paper towel.
2. In a medium size pot, heat four cups of the milk on medium heat till warm and then add the gravy mix a bit at a time while stirring/whisking constantly until gravy thickens.
3. Add desired amount of sausage grease for additional flavor.
4. If desired, add all or just a bit of the additional 1 cup of milk to thin the gravy to your liking if it gets too thick.
5. Reduce heat to low and add the sausage, stirring occasionally for a couple of minutes to let the flavors meld together.
6. While waiting for the gravy to finish, wrap your biscuits in aluminum foil and place in oven at 350 to 400 degrees till warm. 5 or 6 minutes should be just fine. You may also use a toaster oven but please, do yourself a favor and don’t use a microwave.
7. Slice each biscuit in half, cover both halves with gravy and enjoy!
