Orange pecan french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup half-and-half
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 loaf good bakery bread (or cinnamon bread)
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup pecan pieces
Cut bread into six one-inch pieces, and then cut diagonally.
Whisk together eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla. Place bread in a single layer in a casserole or jelly roll pan that just fits the slices. Pour the egg mixture over slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning once.
Pour the melted butter in a jelly roll pan, spreading evenly. Arrange the bread slices on the pan in a single layer. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake at 400 degrees until golden, 20-25 minutes. Serve with syrup.
