- Poached Pears Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 2 firm Bosc pears, cored and halved
- 1/2 cup water
- Orange Custard Sauce Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
- 2 to 3 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 cup milk or half & half
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Pears: Combine sugar and water in 2-quart baking dish. Microwave on high 2-1/2 to 3 minutes. Stir in orange peel. Add pears and microwave on high 7 to 10 minutes.
Orange Custard Sauce: Combine sugar, orange peel, and cornstarch. Blend in milk. Microwave at high 2 to 4 minutes. Blend small amount of hot mixture with beaten egg. Return to hot mixture. Microwave at medium 1 to 2 minutes or until mixture thickens.
