Ingredients

1 kg pears, peeled
150 g sugar
½ bottle(s) red wine
½ stick(s) cinnamon
3  cloves
½  lemon, juiced

Instructions

In a saucepan, cook the pears covered with water for 5 minutes. Drain and allow to cool.

In a bowl, mix together the red wine and lemon juice. Add the cooked pears and allow to steep for 30 minutes.

Pour the wine into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Simmer for 5 minutes, until the sugar has dissolved. Add the pears and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Drain the pears and set aside.

Cook the remaining sauce until thick.

Arrange the pears in small serving bowls and drizzle the syrup over the fruit. Serve warm or cold.
