Pain perdue recipe details
- Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk (or 1 cup milk and 1 cup cream)
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 8 ounces marmalade
- 1/3 cup orange juice concentrate
- 1/2 ounce brandy extract or brandy
- French bread
- Orange Cream:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup orange juice concentrate
Mix eggs, milk, sugar, marmalade, concentrate, and brandy extract in a large bowl with an electric mixer. Cut bread into 1-inch thick slices and dip into custard mixture. Then place slices in flat pan 1-1/2 to 2 inches deep. Pour remaining custard mix over the bread slices. Cover pan with foil and refrigerate overnight, turning bread over once.
Spray electric skillet or griddle with non-stick cooking spray. Heat to 225 to 275 degrees and cook bread for 30 minutes on each side. Serve with warm maple syrup or Orange Cream.
Orange Cream: Beat together until thick.
