Ingredients
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1-1/2 sticks butter
1 Tablespoon light corn syrup
8 slices French bread
8 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoons salt
Instructions:

Combine sugar, butter, and corn syrup in small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Pour syrup mixture into large rectangular Pyrexbaking dish. Place eight or nine slices of bread on top of syrup mixture. Combine egg, milk, vanilla, and salt, stirring until blended. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread slices. Cover and chill eight hours. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and turn upside down.
