Oven french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 8 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 4 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 to 2-1/2 cups milk
- day-old French bread, sliced 3/4-inch thick diagonally
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix all ingredients and pour half over slices of bread that have been placed in a flat pan with low sides. Wait several minutes for mix to soak into bread, then turn bread over and pour remainder on other side. Place bread slices on cookie sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray and place in hot oven. Turn slices over after approximately 5 minutes and dot with soft butter. The bread will puff slightly and turn golden when done (5 to 6 minutes more).
Shake powdered sugar over slices and garnish with fresh strawberries. Wonderful with hot syrup and bacon.
