Orange french toast recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh orange juice
- 2 cups half & half
- 6 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Grand Marnierliqueur
- 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 Tablespoon orange extract
- Two 1-pound loaves day-old French bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix together orange juice, half & half, eggs, sugar, liqueur, vanilla, and orange extract. Pour mixture into a large shallow dish. Cut bread diagonally into 1-inch slices. Soak bread for 2 minutes on each side. Brown the slices in butter over medium-low heat in a large skillet. When all are browned, place them on cookie sheets in a single layer and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, sift some powdered sugar over French toast, and serve hot with heated maple syrup and some orange marmalade.
