- Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup orange liqueur
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon orange extract
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- Rind of one orange, finely grated
- 8 slices of French bread, sliced 3/4-inch thick
- Butter
- 3 Tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- Orange slices
- Orange-flavored syrup
Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add orange juice, milk, orange and vanilla extracts, and orange rind; mix well. Dip the bread into the egg mixture, turning to ensure all sides are coated. Place bread slices in a baking dish in a single layer, pouring the remaining egg mixture on top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Bring to room temperature before cooking. Melt a small amount of butter on a griddle over medium heat. Place slices of bread on hot griddle and cook until browned on both sides. Arrange on serving platter, sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar, and garnish with orange slices. Serve with warm syrup.
