Onion sauce recipe details
Ingredients
500 g | onions, chopped |
300 ml | vegetable broth |
150 ml | single cream |
30 g | butter |
30 g | flour |
pinch(es) | nutmeg, grated |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Instructions
Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat and sauté onions until soft.Stir in the flour to produce a smooth paste and then remove from heat. Whisk the onion mixture, to ensure no lumps form. then return to the heat, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the cream, nutmeg and season to taste.
Serve with lamb or duck.
