Onion pizza recipe details
Ingredients
7 g | dried yeast |
2 tbsp | water |
1 pinch(es) | sugar |
200 g | plain flour and some for kneading |
2 tbsp | olive oil |
½ tsp | salt |
125 ml | water |
1 tbsp | olive oil to apply on dough |
For the topping: | |
300 g | big white onions, finely sliced into rings |
100 g | Pecorino cheese, freshly grated |
1 tsp | oregano, dried or 2 tsp fresh oregano |
4 tbsp | olive oil |
some | salt |
some | freshly ground black pepper |
Instructions
Stir yeast, water and sugar in a small bowl and set aside for about 10 minutes until bubbling.Mix the yeast mix with flour, oil and salt. Slowly stir in the water and knead the dough on a well floured surface until smooth and elastic.
Put the dough inside a bowl and cover with a kitchen cloth. Set aside in a warm place and let rise until the dough volume is doubled.
Knead the dough on a floured surface strongly and place in a thin layer on a lightly oiled small baking tray.
Brush with 1 tbsp olive oil, arrange the onion rings and spread with cheese and oregano.
Sprinkle with 4 tbsp olive oil and bake in a preheated oven (225ºC) for about 25 minutes until crispy golden brown.
Serve immediatly, sprinkle with a little salt and a lot of freshly ground black pepper.
