Onion pizza recipe details
|7 g||dried yeast|
|200 g||plain flour and some for kneading|
|2 tbsp||olive oil|
|1 tbsp||olive oil to apply on dough|
|For the topping:|
|300 g||big white onions, finely sliced into rings|
|100 g||Pecorino cheese, freshly grated|
|1 tsp||oregano, dried or 2 tsp fresh oregano|
|4 tbsp||olive oil|
|some||freshly ground black pepper|
InstructionsStir yeast, water and sugar in a small bowl and set aside for about 10 minutes until bubbling.
Mix the yeast mix with flour, oil and salt. Slowly stir in the water and knead the dough on a well floured surface until smooth and elastic.
Put the dough inside a bowl and cover with a kitchen cloth. Set aside in a warm place and let rise until the dough volume is doubled.
Knead the dough on a floured surface strongly and place in a thin layer on a lightly oiled small baking tray.
Brush with 1 tbsp olive oil, arrange the onion rings and spread with cheese and oregano.
Sprinkle with 4 tbsp olive oil and bake in a preheated oven (225ºC) for about 25 minutes until crispy golden brown.
Serve immediatly, sprinkle with a little salt and a lot of freshly ground black pepper.
