My favourite Biscuits
⚠ Note: for metric to imperial (or vice-versa) conversion please refer to our article on Cooking Measurements 101.- Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup milk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Mix together dry ingredients and cut in shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in milk and stir only until the dough is stiff. Turn out on a floured board and knead about 1/2 minute. Flatten to about 3/4 inch and cut with a biscuit cutter dipped in flour. Place biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 13 minutes.
Makes: About 8 to 10 biscuits
