About this recipe
In this blog post I will guide you thru the steps and ingredients needed to craft this recipe. Grab your favorite apron and let's start.Mozzarella in carrozza is a classic Italian dish that translates to "mozzarella in a carriage." This recipe features slices of mozzarella cheese sandwiched between two slices of bread, dipped in beaten eggs, and then pan-fried until golden and crispy. The result is a gooey, cheesy center encased in a crunchy exterior that is simply irresistible. Perfect as an appetizer or a light lunch, this dish is loved for its simplicity and deliciousness.

Mozzarella in carrozza recipe details
- Ingredients
- 8 slices white or wheat bread
- 1/2 pound mozzarella, sliced (I use part skim)
- 4 eggs
This mozzarella-stuffed French toast is great for brunch or a light Lenten supper. My Mom’s recipe.
Assemble sandwiches using bread and mozzarella. Cut toothpicks in half and use to hold sandwiches together. Beat eggs, adding a little water. Heat griddle and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Carefully put sandwiches into eggs and turn over. Transfer to hot griddle. Cook until browned and mozzarella starts to melt. Make sure you remove toothpicks before serving!
