Morning crab strata recipe details
- Ingredients
- 2 cans crabmeat, drained
- 1 pound Swiss cheese, grated
- 8 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups half and half
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon dill weed
- 1 loaf white bread, cubed
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 Tablespoons chopped parsley
- 3 Tablespoons butter
Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish and spread cubed bread over bottom.
Melt butter in a sauté pan, and add celery and onion. Saute very slowly until onions are translucent. Add crabmeat, salt, pepper, mayonnaise, parsley, and dill weed. Spread mixture over bread cubes, and top with cheese.
Beat together eggs and half and half and pour over cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees, and bake for about 45 minutes or until set and browned.
