Mediterranean steak sandwich recipe details
Round steak is broiled and then served in pita pockets with a tomato, onion and olive mixture. Topped with feta cheese.

Ingredients
Serves: 4- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound sirloin, round, or strip steak, 1 inch thick
- 1 medium-sized tomato, chopped
- 1 can (2.25 ounces) sliced olives, drained
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons Italian dressing
- Four 6-inch pita pockets, warmed
- 1/4 cup (1 ounce) crumbled feta cheese
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. Preheat the broiler. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly into both sides of the steak.
2. Broil the steak for 14 to 17 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness, turning halfway through the cooking.
3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the tomato, olives, onion, and Italian dressing; mix well and set aside. Cut the pitas in half, then thinly slice the steak and place it into the pita pockets.
4. Top the meat with some of the tomato mixture, then some feta cheese. Serve immediately.
