Ingredients
Serves: 4- 1 (7 ounce) box macaroni and cheese mix
- Milk and butter according to mac and cheese mix package directions
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 (4 ounce) can mushroom pieces, drained
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and coat a 12-inch pizza pan with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Bring a saucepan of salted water to boil, then add noodles from the macaroni and cheese mix. Cook and prepare according to directions, using milk and butter as instructed. When mix is cooked and prepared, add the eggs and stir well to combine.
3. Form the egg and macaroni combination into a round on the prepared pizza pan, spreading out until the “crust” is about 1/2-inch thick. Bake for 10 minutes.
4. While crust is baking, combine sausage and onion in a large skillet and set over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until sausage is browned thoroughly. Drain on paper towels.
5. Stir basil and oregano into the tomato sauce in a bowl. Then spread over cooked crust and top with sausage, onions, mushrooms, and cheese.
6. Bake for 10 more minutes, or until mozzarella has melted completely. Slice into wedges and serve.
