Jdub's miso soup recipe details
This is my version of my favorite simple soup. I’ve tried many combinations, and I haven’t found anything better than this so far. Miso, Dashi Stock, and Wakame are found in any Asian food store. If you want a darker taste, I happen to like using 3 tbl. of light miso, and 1 tbl. of dark/barley miso (to make up the 4 tbl of miso). It’s close but enough to notice a difference.
Ready in: 30 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 4- 4 cups water
- 2 teaspoons Dashi Stock
- Tofu, about 20 small 1/4 – 1/2in. cubes (I don’t like a lot, that’s up to you)
- 1 mushroom sliced (use 2 if u want more)
- 1 teaspoon of Wakame (dried seaweed)
- 4 tablespoons Miso (light/soybean miso)
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce (I highly suggest Tamari brand for its rich flavor)
- 1 green onion chopped
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 20 mins1. Boil 4 cups of water and Dashi. Add tofu ,mushrooms, and Wakame, and simmer about 3 minutes. Turn heat to low. Add miso and dissolve it completey by stirring it around. Add soy sauce next. Turn off the heat and add the green onions. Serve when it’s not to hot for your taste.
