Hawaiian meatballs recipe details
Ingredients
250 g | minced beef |
1 medium | egg |
150 g | carrots, peeled, grated |
300 g | pineapple chunks |
120 ml | vinegar |
80 g | sugar |
3 tbsp | soy sauce |
1 tsp | ground ginger |
2 tbsp | cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoon of water |
salt and pepper, to taste |
Instructions
Season the beef with salt and pepper. Place in a mixing bowl, add one egg and mix well. Form into meatballs.Brown the meatballs in a skillet.
Drain the pineapple and keep the juice for the sauce. Add the pineapple and carrots to the meat and simmer gently for a while.
Remove the meatballs from the pan. Keep warm.
Add the pineapple juice, vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, salt, pepper and ginger to the pan. Stor well and then add the cornstarch paste. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
Before serving place the meatballs back into the sauce and heat for 2-3 minutes.
Serve over rice, if desired.
