Hamburger stew recipe details
As a young bachelor out of college, I did my own cooking and devised inexpensive, hearty meals like this one. Leftovers are great!
Ready in: 1 hour 30 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 4- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup diced white onion
- 1 cup celery
- 1 cup diced rutabaga
- 1 cup diced carrots
- 1 (4 ounce) can mushroom pieces
- 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 quart water, or as needed to cover stew
Preparation method
Prep: 30 mins | Cook: 1 hour1. Brown beef in nonstick skillet, drain, and add to a 4 quart Dutch oven. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil, then simmer 1 hour. Stir and add water to cover stew from time to time.
