Guinness chocolate cake recipe details
Ingredients
250 ml | Guiness stout |
250 g | butter |
75 g | cocoa powder |
400 g | sugar |
140 ml | sour cream |
2 | eggs |
1 packet(s) | vanilla sugar |
275 g | all-purpose flour |
1 tsp | baking soda |
300 g | cream cheese |
150 g | icing sugar |
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180°C/ 350°F. Grease and line a 9-inch springform tin with baking parchment.Pour the Guinness in a big saucepan, add the butter and heat until the butter is melted. Remove from heat and stir in cocoa and sugar.
Whisk in a bowl the sour cream with eggs, vanilla sugar and add it to the Guiness mixture. Mix the flour with baking soda and stir this gently into the Guinness mixture until smooth – don’t stir too much.
Pour the batter into the prepared tin and bake for 45-60 minutes. Place the cake onto a wire rack and allow to cool completely in the tin. It is quite necessary to do so, because the cake is rather moist.
For the frosting:
Whisk the cream cheese until even and smooth. Stir in the icing sugar until easy to spread and even. Frost the top of the cake with the mixture.
The appearance is almost like a draught Guinness – sort of a solid Guiness.

Store in the fridge until needed.
