Guava cake recipe details
Ingredients
4 cup(s) | flour |
1 cup(s) | sugar |
1 tsp | baking powder |
1 tsp | salt |
½ cup(s) | oil |
2 cup(s) | evaporated milk |
3 cup(s) | guavas, diced |
500 g | butter |
½ cup(s) | sugar |
450 ml | milk |
¼ cup(s) | rum |
Instructions
Sieve the flour into a bowl and add 1 cup of sugar, the baking powder and the salt. Pour in the milk and the oil. Knead until well combined. Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Divide 2 cups of the guavas on top. Roll up the dough and wrap the roll tightly with cling film and aluminium foil. Twist the edges firmly, to seal the roll.In a wide saucepan, bring water to a boil. Place in the roll and simmer for 1 hour.
Mix together the butter and the remaining sugar until creamy. Whisk in the evaporated milk and the rum and stir in the remaining guavas.
Remove the cake from the water bath. Unwrap the cake and cut into slices.
Pour the sauce over the cake before serving.
