Grilled tuna with hot pepper spread recipe details

Ingredients
Serves: 4- 1 unpeeled onion, halved
- 2 red bell peppers, seeded and halved lengthwise
- 2 unpeeled garlic cloves
- 1 small red chile pepper, seeded, deveined, and chopped
- 1 large slice whole-wheat bread, torn into pieces
- 1 tablespoon tomato puree
- 1/4 cup olive oil, divided
- Salt and black pepper
- 4 tuna steaks (1 1/2 pounds total)
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 15 mins1. Preheat grill to high.
2. Grill onions, peppers, and garlic for about 10 minutes to char the skins and roast the flesh. Let cool, then skin.
3. Combine peeled grilled vegetables, chile pepper, bread, tomato puree, 3 tablespoons olive oil, half of the lime zest, and half of the lime juice in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Stir in salt and pepper to taste.
4. Coat tuna steaks with 1 tablespoon olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and place on grill. Cook for about 6 minutes, flipping midway through the cooking time.
5. Drizzle each tuna steak with the puree and serve.
