- Ingredients
- 6 slices of crusted Italian/French bread
- 4 large eggs (about 1-1/2 per person)
- 1 teaspoon lemon or orange zest
- 1/4 teaspoon almond essence
- 1 cup of half & half
Beat eggs, add zest, almond essence, and half & half. Soak bread slices in egg mixture, then place in a sensible container. Pour remaining egg mixture over bread slices and place lid on container. When egg mixture is absorbed, cook in buttered skillet on low heat for first 2 minutes, then increase heat, turn bread slices, and brown as desired.
Serve with maple syrup and/or fresh fruit.
