Golden scones recipe details
- Ingredients
- 6 Tablespoons cold butter
- 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup white cornmeal
- 2 Tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 Tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon grated orange rind
- 1/2 cup broken pecans
- 3/4 cup dried apricots, chopped
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons orange juice
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In large bowl, cut butter into flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Add egg, milk, nuts, apricots, and orange rind and mix until dough just clings together. Knead gently about 10 times on a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into fourths and pat into squares about 1/2 inch thick. Cut each square diagonally twice to form 4 triangles.
Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake about 15 minutes until lightly golden. Combine glaze ingredients and spoon over the hot scones. Serve warm.
