Georgian low country boil recipe details
An easy seafood and potato recipe that can feed a little or a lot.
Ready in: 1 hour 15 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 4- 2 lbs medium or small shrimp
- 2 lbs kielbasa or smoked sausage
- 8 baby corns
- 24 new or red potatoes
- 1/4 cup Old Bay(R) Seasoning (can use more if wanted)
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 1 hour1. Fill large pot 3/4 full of water. (If you’re doing this in the kitchen, you may need two large pots to cook different items separately, or you can do this in a turkey fryer pot with its big pot).
2. Add Old Bay and potatoes. Bring to boil and cook for 5 minutes. Add sausage and bring back to boil for 5 minutes. Add corn and boil for 5 minutes.
3. Check for doneness (especially the potatoes). If ready, add shrimp.
4. Be ready to pull out and strain (with the turkey fryer, a strainer should be holding all the ingredients within the pot). It should only take 2 minutes for the shrimp to turn pink. After they have turned pink, wait one more minute, then pull off.
5. Strain and put in trays to serve. Big foil pans work well. Serve with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and slaw.Make ahead
You can go ahead and cook the potatoes, and throw them in once you through the corn in to reheat.
Serving suggestionTo make it fun, have people eat with only their hands, and serve on newspaper. Chow down and enjoy!
