Gai yang thai grilled chicken recipe details
Ingredients
1 kg | chicken legs, bones removed |
4 tbsp | soy sauce |
4 tbsp | fish sauce |
4 tbsp | honey |
2 tbsp | palm sugar (or brown sugar) |
1 tbsp | coriander root, minced |
1 tbsp | turmeric |
1 tbsp | chilli flakes |
1 tbsp | black pepper, ground |
4 clove(s) | garlic |
For the dip nam jim gai yang: | |
2 tbsp | tamarind water |
2 tbsp | fish sauce |
2 tbsp | lime juice |
1 tbsp | chilli flakes |
½ tbsp | roasted, ground rice |
1 clove(s) | garlic, minced |
1 tbsp | coriander leaves, chopped |
1 | spring onion, chopped |
1 tsp | brown sugar or palm sugar |
Instructions
Put soy sauce, fish sauce, honey, palm sugar, coriander root, turmeric, chilli flakes, ground black pepper and garlic into a blender and blend till fine.Pour this marinade over the chicken and leave it in the fridge for some hours or overnight.
Grill or BBQ chicken over medium heat until done, turn regularly.
Combine all ingredients for the dip in a bowl and season to taste. Serve with the chicken, garnish with slices of cucumber and lime wedges.
It is recommended to serve this dish with Som Tum and sticky rice or Thai fragrant rice.
