- Ingredients
- Montana Mills Challah (Egg Bread) or Pane Italian Bread- slice thickly and remove crusts.
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1 Tablespoon Grand Marnier
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Melt butter in large microwave proof measuring cup. When melted add brown sugar and corn syrup. Cook on 8 until smooth and thick (about 5 minutes) and pour into six ramekins. (Keep an eye on this.)
Mix eggs, half and half, vanilla, salt and Grand Marnier. Soak bread slices in egg mixture and place bread on top of sugar mixture, squeezing slices to fit if necessary.
Cover ramekins and place overnight in refrigerator. In morning turn slices over and bake uncovered in middle of oven at 350 degrees until puffy- about 30 to 40 minutes.
You can also do this in a large baking dish instead of individually.
