Ingredients
Serves: 6- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 cup ice water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus oil for frying
- 2 pounds fresh or frozen shrimp
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 10 mins1. Stir flour, salt, sugar, egg, ice water, and oil together in a bowl and beat to combine.
2. Peel, butterfly, and devein shrimp, leaving the very end of the tail intact for holding.
3. Fill a deep fryer with oil according to manufacturer’s instructions. Heat to 375 degrees F.
4. Dredge shrimp in the batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown, working in batches. Drain on paper towels and serve.
