Flat iron steak with bacon mushroom cream sauce recipe details
A tender marinated steak served with a rich mushroom and bacon cream sauce makes the ultimate decadent dinner.

Ingredients
Serves: 4- For marinade:
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 (8 ounce) flat iron steaks
- For sauce:
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 5 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 pound sliced crimini (brown) mushrooms
- 1/2 pound portobello mushrooms sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon chopped Italian flat leaf parsley
- 1/2 tablespoon flour
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 30 mins1. In a resealable bag or plastic container, mix all marinade ingredients together. Add steaks, seal tightly and marinate in refrigerator for at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
2. Remove steaks from refrigerator before starting sauce.
3. In a saucepan over medium heat, add the olive oil and butter. Add chopped bacon and cook until bacon fat is rendered approximately 5 minutes. Add diced onion to the bacon butter mixture and cook until translucent and tender about 8 Minutes. Add garlic and saute for additional 3 minutes. Do not let garlic brown.
4. Stir in all of the mushrooms and add salt. Stir and cook for 5 minutes until mushrooms start becoming tender. Stir in balsamic vinegar, heavy cream, parsley, flour and black pepper.
5. Reduce heat to low and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, sauce will thicken. If sauce seems to thick add more heavy cream.
6. Meanwhile, remove steaks from marinade and cook on grill or grill pan over medium high heat for about 6 minutes per side for a medium-rare steak.
7. Remove steaks from heat and let them rest for 10 minutes.
8. Plate the steaks and top with generous spoon fulls of the sauce. Garnish with additional parsley.
