Drunken apples recipe details
Ingredients
6 medium | apples |
2 tsp | lemon juice |
90 g | walnuts |
100 g | brown sugar |
2 tsp | cinnamon |
½ tsp | nutmeg |
60 g | butter |
6 slice(s) | Provola cheese |
250 ml | whisky |
Instructions
Heat oven to 200°C.Carefully core apples with a long, thin knife. Slice off some of the bottom part so that the apples can stand in a baking dish without rolling over. Rub the insides with lemon juice.
In a medium-size bowl, mix remaining ingredients, except whisky and cheese.
Gently stuff the cored apples and place in square baking dish where the apples can be placed as close as possible next to each other. Drizzle whiskey over top and cover tightly with foil.
Bake 15-20 minutes, then remove foil. Apples should be softened, but not mushy. Baste with whisky liquid, then place a slice of cheese on top of each apple and return to oven. Bake a few minutes more until cheese is melted and just begins to brown.
Serve immediately.
Serving suggestion:Serve with grilled pork tenderloin.
