This is my specialty pasta dish and can be made with many variations, but my version mixes general Italian pasta with the seafood lover in me. It can be made without the seafood, but when the butter and oil mixes with the shrimp and crab meat…it’s heaven!
Ready in: 23 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 3- 1 pound mostaccioli (penne) pasta
- 12 medium-sized shrimp
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 ounces imitation crab meat
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt & pepper to your own taste, just don’t over-do it
Preparation method
Prep: 6 mins | Cook: 17 mins1. Bring large pot of water to boil. Cook pasta about 9 minutes in water. Drain and keep warm.
2. While water is coming to a boil, follow directions on shrimp package and cook until shrimp has turned white. Then set aside.
3. To make the sauce, heat olive oil and half of the butter in skillet over medium heat. Then add crab meat to skillet and cook until tender, about 4 minutes.
4. Add cooked shrimp, garlic, Italian seasoning, basil, pepper, red pepper (to taste), and salt and pepper. Heat through for about 4 minutes, then add remaining butter.
5. Place pasta in large serving bowl, put in a few pinches of Parmesan cheese and toss.
6. Add the rest of the ingredients to pasta and toss again. Serve immediately with additional Parmesan on the side.
