Deep fried mozzarella sticks recipe details

Ingredients
Makes: 16 fried mozzarella sticks- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half
- Canola oil, for frying
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 15 mins | Extra time: 20 mins, freezing1. Set up dredging stations: flour in one bowl, eggs and milk in a second bowl, and panko, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt in a third bowl. Stir the panko well to incorporate ingredients.
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Working one at a time, dip the mozzarella pieces in flour, coat in egg mixture, and then finally dredge in seasoned bread crumbs. Set on prepared baking sheet.
3. Place baking sheet in the freezer and let the mozzarella sticks chill for 20 minutes.
4. Pour enough canola oil into a large deep skillet to form a 1 1/2 inch layer. Turn heat on to medium. (Or, use a deep fryer according to manufacturer’s instructions; heat oil to about 350 degrees F.)
5. When oil is very hot, work in batches of 4 to 5 at a time to fry the mozzarella sticks in the skillet, turning frequently until the crumbs turn golden brown.
6. Drain on paper towels, then serve.
