Date nut bar recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup margarine, melted
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups chopped dates
- 2 cups chopped walnuts
Combine cake mix and brown sugar, blend well. Add margarine and eggs. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. In separate bowl, combine dates and walnuts, and mix well. Stir this mixture into cake mixture and blend well. Batter will be stiff. Spread evenly into a 13 x 9-inch greased pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool 10 minutes. Run knife around sides of pan to loosen. Cool at least one hour and then cut into bars.
Makes: 24 bars
