Dana’s Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies with the flavor of bananas. I recommend using ripe bananas (the riper the better).

Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 small bananas, peeled and mashed
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Preparation method
Prep: 15 mins | Cook: 15 mins
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and coat a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
2. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda together in mixing bowl and set aside.
3. Cream shortening and butter with sugars in mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, vanilla extract and almond extract.
4. Mix in mashed bananas.
5. Add flour mixture and stir until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
6. Drop by small spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until cookies’ edges have begun to brown.
