Currant tea biscuits and orange butter recipe details
- Ingredients
- 1/3 cup currants
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup milk
- Orange Butter
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 Tablespoons creamed honey
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
Soak the currants in boiling water for 4 minutes. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until it is in small pieces. Drain and dry currants and add to above mixture. Pour milk into dry ingredients. Gently mix dough. Knead on lightly floured board; gently pat dough to a thickness of 3/4 inch. Cut with a circular cutter into individual biscuits. Dust biscuits lightly with flour. Bake in a preheated 425 degree-oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
Serve warm biscuits with orange butter.
