Creamy basil alfredo recipe details
My own little spin on a classic Alfredo sauce. The taste is excellent and the texture is creamy. I hope you enjoy this recipe. Serve over top of your favorite chicken or pasta dish.
Ready in: 25 mins
Ingredients
Serves: 6- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 3 leaves fresh basil
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 15 mins1. Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan over low-medium heat. Do not allow the butter to brown or it will take on a flavor that you do not want for this recipe. Saute the garlic in the butter over medium-high heat until it is nice and golden brown.
2. In a medium sized bowl, combine the garlic, butter and cream cheese. Mix with a wire whisk until as smooth as possible.
3. Return to heat, turn heat to medium, slowly add in milk a little at a time, constantly stirring until all the milk is added.
4. Add your grated Parmesan and mozzarella constantly stirring until mixture is well blended.
5. Return heat to medium-low and allow to cook until desired thickness is reached.
6. While sauce is cooking, stack the basil leaves; starting at the stems, roll them as tightly as possible until you reach the top end of the leaves. Cut the basil into very thin strips. Unroll the strips and cut into thin squares.
7. Mix basil into sauce.
8. Simmer until desired thickness is reached.
