- Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick oleo
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 Tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 2 beaten eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Icing for cake
- 1-1/2 stick oleo
- 1-1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1-1/2 boxes confectioners sugar
- toasted pecans
- miniature marshmallows
Sift together sugar, flour, and salt. Combine in a saucepan and bring to a boil 1 stick oleo, shortening, cocoa, and water. Pour this mixture over flour/sugar mixture and mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Bake in 11 x 16-inch greased pan at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. In a double boiler, mix together all ingredients for icing. Keep icing warm so that it will pour over the cake. Before icing, cover the top of the warm cake with marshmallows and pecans. Pour icing back and forth over cake until covered.
