Ingredients
200 ml | milk |
42 g | yeast |
500 g | flour |
75 g | soft butter |
3 | eggs |
1 | egg yolk |
75 g | sugar |
1 pinch(es) | salt |
125 g | cherries, pitted and chopped |
50 g | amareno cherries, chopped |
300 g | marzipan, grated |
50 g | almonds, chopped |
3 tbsp | single cream |
2 tbsp | decorating sugar |
2 tbsp | almond flakes |
Instructions
In a saucepan, heat the milk until lukewarm. Remove from the heat and add the yeast.Beat one egg into a bowl. Stir in the flour, butter, sugar and the salt. Pour in the yeast milk. Knead until well combined. Cover and allow to rise at a warm place for 45 minutes.
In a blender mix together all the cherries, marzipan, 2 eggs and the chopped almonds. Cut off a small corner of a plastic bag and fill the mixture into the bag.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a rectangle. Divide the dough lengthwise into 3 strings. Extrude the cherry and marzipan mixture onto half of each dough string.
Mix together the egg yolk and the cream. Brush the edges of the dough strings with the egg mixture. Braid the 3 dough parts to form a plait. Transfer the plait onto a lined baking tray, cover and allow to rise for 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Sprinkle the plait with the remaining egg mixture, decorating sugar and the almond flakes. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
