Caramel pecan french toast recipe details
- Ingredients:
- 6 to 8 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 12 slices good white bread
- 1-1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup)
- 4 Tablespoons Karocorn syrup (light or dark)
- 1-1/2 cups brown sugar (dark or light)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Cinnamon sugar
Put sugar, syrup and butter in a heavy sauce pan and cook until almost boiling. Don’t overcook, but make sure it is mixed well. For thinner sauce, add 1/4 cup water. Put this sauce into a well-greased oblong cake pan. Sprinkle pecans, raisins and cinnamon sugar into this sauce. Cover this mixture with 12 slices of bread (doubled). Mix eggs, milk, salt and vanilla and evenly pour over bread. Cover and let stand overnight.
In the morning, uncover and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour until nicely light brown on top.
